The history of the paper mill Herisem and the former cardboard factory Winderickx (8th century after Christ)

To know the exact origin of this domain in Belgium near Brussels, we need to go back to the 8th century of our time. From then on sources indicate that there was a farm with the name Herisem. The name “Herisem” itself comes from the old Frankish word “Harja- Heim” and means "settling place of Harja".

Much of this settlement is not known anymore today. Presumably it must have been loam constructions that were built on different places than were the buildings are now.
