Industrial heritage near Brussels in Belgium

Welcome to the paper mill Herisem and former cardboard factory Winderickx in Belgium near Brussels. This industrial heritage is a former 19th-century industrial complex that grew out of an old paper mill, which was raised in 1536. The complex as a whole is one of the best preserved examples of the marvelous paper- and cardboard industry in the region of Flemish Brabant. It is on the national treasure list of protected buildings in Belgium as industrial heritage and is recognized by the European Commission as an example project for preserving architectural heritage.

Industrial heritage in Belgium

The former complex as a whole exists of an old paper mill, a former cardboard factory, a farm (with a grain mill) and the house with the former office, which was built in a central position.

Today, there you may visit a museum, a tavern, and the complex gives place to let a conference centre, a celebration room and sleeping accommodation.

Also some cultural activities and events are frequently organized and some local clubs are stabilized. For example: Since 2000, there is a horse club is being established.
